Preliminary Tasks

The magazine I did my group, used many different conventions such as we used a picture of a person, in this case we have used the person that will feature most in our magazine. The name of the magazine is also another convention we used. In the magazine we also included a price, and a bar code in the bottom right hand corner. My groups magazine also includes 3 different fonts, and 3 different colours, this is to add attraction to the magazine. The magazine also includes a strap line across the top of the cover in the strap line we have put the magazines slogan. Also the magazine has cover lines to look professional and to show what is to come in the magazine.

My groups magazine only used one picture, we did this because we thought that the one big picture was enough for out front cover because it took up a lot of room, and more picture would of used to much space and made the magazine to filled. In my groups magazine we did not include a date, or an issue number on our front cover.

The colours on the front cover suit the target audience because the colours are bright and its a sporting magazine, it suits light colours, also bright colours are more enjoyable in sport compared to dark colours. The background is a playing field and most games are played on playing fields so the background fits into the subject.

The cover lines help entice the audience, because they are issues to do with sport which people buying the magazine will be interested in. The big picture will also attract readers because they will want to know why he is on the front cover. The way the magazine is set out could be a reason why people want to read the magazine.

I have learnt that a magazine cover has different colours depending on what genre it is, and the colours and fonts must suit the target audience, I have also leant that a magazine cover does not have to include every convention to be a good magazine cover.

Film

This scene is typical of a gangster film because we used an office to film the scene, we filmed a swapping of bags we don't see what is inside the bags but we can tell that its meant to be a secret because there is only to people in the room. We also see a person behind a desk this shows that he is waiting for this package and is expecting it.

An over the shoulder shot is used because in the scene there is speech and this camera angle is the best way to show it, we also used a hand held camera shot to show one of the people walking into the room. These are two main camera angles used because they are used a key points in the scene and have most effect on the film.

What I felt we did well in our film was that we had good continuity through out the film, we also got some really good camera shots and did the job we wanted them to do. We had camera shots that made a big impact on our film. One thing my group didn't do was get all the camera shots we needed in our brief.

I have learnt that mise en scene has a big impact just like desk and bags we used made such a big difference, like with the bags we had the opportunity to become more creative in what we did, for example we had to choose if we would throw the bags on to the table or place them etc..

Continuity is one of the most important things in the film, it just makes the project look professional, and the film itself becomes more entertaining because its always in the action.
